OnePlus launched the Android-based OxygenOS 12 update to its OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro phone in early March. In the midst of an entire week after the roll of the update, the firm has announced that it will be taking a break from it’s Android 12 update owing to numerous bugs that plague the operating system.
The news is verified through OnePlus in a statement sent to members of the Android Police. “We have been aware of issues triggered from this OxygenOS 12 update, and our team of software engineers is working to fix the issues. We’ll halt this update and release an update in the shortest time possible,” the company stated in an announcement.
The decision by OnePlus comes at a time when OnePlus 9 as well as OnePlus 9 Pro customers are experiencing problems with the update due to the switch to ColorOS underneath the hood. Customers are also complaining about issues with the app’s behavior that are glitchy. Many are complaining about the unstable Status bar, which isn’t showing multiple notifications in succession and not showing notifications in the correct sequence, while some are complaining about ColorOS the way it handles its fingerprint sensors. OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro users are also complaining of issues with the 120Hz display as well as WiFi MIMO not working , and in some cases Phone and Camera apps are disappearing. OnePlus is aware of the issue and has stopped the OxygenOS 12 update to protect users to avoid the faulty software update which is rolling out to many more users.

Therefore, it is recommended to make an archive of all the data stored on their smartphones prior to taking the step. OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro users can reset factory settings on their devices by accessing the System settings of the Settings app, then pressing the Reset button. After that the new window will pop up. This is where they will be able to tap the option to erase all data and then confirm to clean their phones.
